Writer PM Kester tagged me in the “Next Big Thing – Blog Tag” where she answered 10 questions about her work in progress. The tag began as a promotional blog at She Writes. Since I’m “It”, here are my answers to the same 10 questions.
What is the working title of your book?
A Welcome Invasion
Where did the idea come from for the book?
The idea came to me one day during my free time stuck in rush hour traffic. Instead of kickstarting my usual road rage, I starting thinking about an idea for NaNo and voilà!
What genre does your book fall under?
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I’ve barely written the first chapter, so I haven’t even begun to imagine a movie for it.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
When a bestselling author is brutally attacked, she discovers that not only did her new love interest play a key role but he may be the only person she can trust.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I’m gunning for agency representation, but I’m not ruling out self-publishing.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I’m still writing it. 🙂
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
None since I am just beginning, but that could very well change by the final chapter.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Ha! What doesn’t inspire me? All (yes, all) of my stories have a romantic tale to tell and all of them have a challenge. But this time, I want all things surrounding love to be more than complicated and unpredictable.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Those who know me and have read my stories know that my main characters are usually African-American females and are told in first person. Well…not this time. I’m giving third-person narrative a shot…and I’m intrigued by the idea of letting my readers imagine what my main character (MC) looks like. The MC will be a female still, but I’m leaving her ethnicity to the readers’ imagination. Who knows; by the end of my story, she may end up screaming at me, “I’m black, bitch!”.LOL We’ll see.
I haven’t tagged anyone yet, but if you’re interested in “tagging” along, just let me know, and I’ll be glad to add you. 🙂
